Exercise: Colour relationships

Module ExercisesPosted by Mike Tue, December 04, 2012 10:23:35
The first objective of this exercise is to demonstrate the relationship between primary colours and to suggest a series of photographs which depict the colour ratios as depicted by J.W. Von Goethe based upon his assigned values for the 6 primary colours: Yellow 9, Orange 8, Red and Green 6, blue 4 and violet 3.

The ratios he determined based upon the accepted colour wheel are

Red : Green: 1:1, Orange : Blue 1:2, Yellow Violet 1:3

Yellow Violet 1:3

Orange Blue 1:2

Red Green 1:1

The second part of this set is a collation of images which provided both balance and/or tension in an array of colours more personal in preference and not abiding the rules of Von Goethe.

Red: Grey - ratio in preference to the stronger red, perhaps this should be the other way round in proportions?

Yellow Blue 1:1 = Making the foreground building too weak for the blue sky?

Red Cream 1:2 Almost an accent of red, this cropped photo would be better with a wider field of view? reducing the red quota?
